about

Danish-German rising star GRETA shines bright on new single

GRETA rocketed into 2020 with her single 'Daughter' which has been on rotation on radio stations and playlists across all of Europe. Now comes her follow-up single. 'Hydrogen' is a burst of light in a dark time – a warm, disco-laden electronic track that explores how light finds its way into us.

Hydrogen is due for release on May 8 and is the second single off her upcoming EP 'Ardent Spring - Part II'.

GRETAs vibrant sound has been dubbed “astronautic pop”. She moves in a magical universe, where transcendence and futurism merge with nostalgia and the familiar.

Hydrogen – the light of stars
GRETA is fascinated and inspired by the heavenly bodies – also on this her newest single, which draws on the source of starlight. “I started thinking about why stars shine. And how we as people receive and transmit light. How can the light reach my innermost core, when it feels like the darkness is sitting right there, where my chest seals itself off and is at its hardest and most impenetrable? The stars in the sky turn hydrogen into heli- um. This releases such a power, that they create the light we see. So in a way, hydrogen is an explosive catalyst for light – and in the song this becomes a synonym for conquering the darkness within,” GRETA tells.

lyrics

The stomach is the darkest bridge of muscles
Where does the light get in?
The part inside of my own chest is the hardest
Where the heart’s supposed to live

Hydrogen in all the stars collide
Where does the light get in?
A part of me I’d never dare to visit
In my own mind again

My fingertips are trying to reach further
Feeling for what they lack
And now I’m counting stars until the early morning
So the darkness can’t come back

Hydrogen in all the stars collide
Where does the light get in?
A part of me I’d never dare to visit
In my own mind again
